he lets me lie down

He lets me lie down.

Psalm 23. I began to read it for probably the 100th time the other day. Each time I tried to dig into it I stopped three lines in.

He lets me lie down.

I couldn’t move onto the next line. There is plenty of weighty, true words in this Psalm but I continually got stuck on five seemingly small words.

He lets me lie down.

I found myself reaching for my pen and temporarily tattooing these five words on my arm.

He lets my lie down.

I’ve walked two days with these words scribbled onto my arm. Two days that have been full of the messiness of community. The messiness that only translates to real love. Two days that have been good and pure, but heavy nonetheless. And as I have gone about these two days I continually caught glimpse of those five tiny yet big words throughout the day.

He lets me lie down.

He doesn’t need me to do anything. He doesn’t want anything from me other than to just be with Him. I can hike to the top of a mountain and meet Him there. I can be driving and find him there. I can be working in the midst of the day and seek him there. OR I can lie down. I can lay on my floor. bed. couch. and He is there. He doesn’t need me to be doing anything. I don’t have to care for His heart. Talk Him through a process. He lets me lie down. be messy or tired. be silent or full of words. He is okay with me just laying and soaking in whatever He wants to give me.

He lets me lie down.

Would you prayerfully consider joining my support team? Doing so would allow me to continue walking in relationships with the hosts I work with every day. Partnering with the passion and vision’s the Lord has given them and working to see the kingdom come in their communities and watching people encounter the love of Christ. Joining my team would be an opportunity to hear more of my heart for why I do what I do.
